Service Details

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary service starting at 7:00p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home of Three Rivers, MI. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Three Rivers, MI at 11:30 a.m. with Father Antony Rajesh officiating. Interment will be held at Vicksburg Cemetery following the service.

Obituary Notice

Kelly Sue (Hester) Elnick, age 52, of Three Rivers, MI passed away in the evening hours on Friday, April 26, 2019 after battling lung and bone cancer courageously for two years. She was born in Three Rivers, MI on October 19, 1966 the daughter of Ray J. and Joyce A. (Ash) Hester.

Kelly grew up in Vicksburg, MI and attended Vicksburg Schools graduating in 1984. In November of 1993 she married the love of her life Ricky Elnick at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Kalamazoo, MI. Together they raised three beautiful children.

She received an Associate’s degree from Glenn Oaks Community College and worked at Bronson Methodist Hospital for many years as a Patient Care Assistant. Kelly loved her job and worked in the Nuclear Medicine department until she could no longer work.

Kelly loved to garden, paint, clean her house, go shopping, go out to breakfast, lunch and dinner with her family, have bonfires, summer parties, holidays, and going to the lake. If there was ever a chance to go on an adventure she would be the first to pack a bag. Northern Michigan was her favorite destination and she made a point out of planning a trip at least once a year.

She lived a fulfilling life of laughter and love. Kelly was known for her contagious laughter and kind heart. She always had a smile on her face and her love for her family and friends was selfless, regardless of the battles she was fighting.

Kelly is preceded in her passing by her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are: her loving husband of twenty-five years Ricky E. Elnick; children: Scott, Molly, and Joel Elnick; siblings: Mary Hester, Gregg Hester, Judy Hollenbeck, Patrick Hester, Kate Hester and Michael Hester; her adopted brother: Christopher Hester; and all of her loving friends.

  1. The sad news was a big surprise to me. Kelly was amazing to work along side when she was in float pool. She was always upbeat and smiling no matter what the day gave her. She will be greatly missed. Sending her family my love and light during their time of healing.

  2. I’m sorry to hear of Kelly’s passing. I remember her wonderful smile for so many years as her and her family were raised just down the street from where I was raising my family. Sending prayers for all of you.

    • I grew up down the street from Kelly and have many memories of running around town. Mostly I remember laughing. Kelly was alway with a smile, a twinkle in her eye, and a laugh. She is one of the most joyful people I’ve known. I’ve been praying for her as she fought so hard to defeat this. I will continue to lift you all up during this time.

She always had a smile on her face with an impromptu laugh that followed! I loved her in high school and loved her years later when we met again working at Bronson! !
