Obituary Notice

Leigh James Harney, Sr., age 53, of Three Rivers passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 25, 2018 following a lengthy illness.
Leigh was born on July 26, 1965 in Dorsett, VT the son of William and Marjorie (Bowker) Harney.  He graduated high school in Lakeland Florida in 1983 and went on to meet his future wife, Erma Bodiford in 1985 in Winter Haven, Florida.
Leigh spent several years owning and operating his own landscaping business in Florida.  Leigh and Erma welcomed their daughter Candace in July 1987 and their son Leigh in September of 1989.  Leigh and Erma moved to Michigan in 1988 where he spent his time working as a truck driver / foreman for CB Woods.
In 1996 Leigh started his battle with a failing kidney. He underwent a transplant in 2006, but continued to enjoy doing yard work, tinkering with his mowers, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Leigh was preceded in death by his father William Harney.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Harney of Three Rivers; daughter, Candace (Jeremy) Reynolds; son, Leigh (Jen) Harney; mother, Marjorie Harney; brothers, Bill (Deborah) Harney and Andrew Harney; sister, Patricia Seymour and Christine Harney; grandchildren, William Harney, Sarah Reynolds, Claire Turow, Adrian Turow, and Gavin Swecker; one great granddaughter, Marley Sigley.

Additional Information

Memorial donations may be directed to the Harney Family c/o Erma Harney.  Envelopes are available and may also be sent to the funeral home.

  1. Uncle leigh you was and always have been a good man, A great father, A wonderful husband, A great uncle and A good role model. I know that you will be watching over all of us. I love you, and we’ll being missing you. You will always be in my memories; i remember when i was just a kid and you taking me for dune buggie rides, i still remember our last christmas… i know your in a better place and your not suffering anymore… you will be missed but never forgotten… R.I.P. UNCLE LEIGH UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

  2. So sorry for your loss, you two have been a beautiful example of love and commitment through out your lives together.
    We will miss our friend Leigh but in our sadness there is the joy knowing he is in Gods healing arms.
