Service Details

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27th, 2018 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7221 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Naumann officiating.

Following a luncheon at the church, interment will be held at Lower Flatbush Cemetery in Three Rivers.

    

Obituary Notice

Linda Hazel Handy, age 71, of Three Rivers went to be with her Lord peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born on Jan. 29, 1947 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Cameron and Claire (Denny) Wortinger.

Linda married the love of her life, Ken Handy, on April 15, 1966 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Centreville, MI. Together they raised their children in Three Rivers. Linda was a loving, devoted wife and mother who cherished her family and friends. Raising her children in their younger years, Linda went on to be employed with Dr. Bud Malinowski and then as office manager for Dr. John Schroer in Constantine.

Her loving memory will be cherished by her husband, of 52 years, Ken Handy, of Three Rivers; three children, Rebecca (Christopher) Scheel, Ken Handy, and Daniel (Dawn) Handy; four beautiful grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Bob) Hagelgans, and brother, Loren (Lori) Wortinger; as well as many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

 

Additional Information

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to St. Michael Lutheran School or Rose Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.

    I can not honestly say thank you Linda for the life lessons you taught me in the few short years that we knew each other. I’ve carried them with me every step of my journey as a wife, mother, and now grandmother.

  4. Linda Handy was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. I am so glad I saw her & Kenny at Armstrong’s Learning Center Grand Opening. They are the kindest people you will ever meet. My family has been blessed to know them for most of my life. God bless the family, and prayers too, for Ken as he continues to
    heal.

  6. I am so sorry to learn of Linda’s passing, Ken. Linda was the sweetest! My siblings and I played with Linda, her brother and sisters when our families lived across French St. from one another. In later years, it was nice to see her by your side at class reunions. I hope it helps you and your family to know others are thinking of you, share your sorrow and have such fond memories of her.

  8. I first me Linda at Park School many years ago. I always enjoyed her positive attitude and willingness to help children. She was always so kind and caring. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this time.

    Ken, and Family, We are So Sorry to hear of Linda’s passing….Can You Imagine the Joyous Choir of Angels when she arrived in Heaven the Other day!!! She is Smiling at the Face of Jesus and Knows No pain anymore,

  11. Linda always had a wonderful smile for everyone. She was definitely one of God’s flowers on earth, always showing His love in all she did and all she encountered. My prayers are with you Ken and all her family and friends. May our Savior Jesus comfort you in the days ahead. Blessings to all.

  12. Uncle Ken, Becki, Kenny and Dan – We are heartbroken at the sudden loss of Aunt Linda but are joyful knowing she is whole now with our Savior . Aunt Linda leaves such a legacy of christian love both through her family and every one she met. You have always been such a great example of a loving christian marriage to Ken and I.
