Service Details

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 at Hohner Funeral Home in Three Rivers with the funeral to follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Owen officiating. Burial will be at Poe’s Cemetery in Jones, MI.

Obituary Notice

Loretta A. Bowlby, age 78 of Mendon, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, September 24, 2021 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born in Vicksburg, MI., on July 17, 1943. She was the fifth child of seven born to Ivan and Louise (Cook) Evans. On September 3, 1966 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bowlby in Three Rivers, MI and then together eventually settled in Mendon.

Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was also a friend to many, and a faithful, devoted Christian. She loved spending time with her family and sister Sandy, going to garage sales, working in the yard and watching the birds that visited her feeders, especially humming birds.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Kim (Steve) Gotaas of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, and Karen (Steve) Goodman of Mendon; four grandchildren, Cameron, Kate, Joshua and Jared; one sister Sandra Emmons of Portage, MI., and two brothers Dick (Carol) Evans of Indiana and Jack (Sheryl) Evans of North Carolina, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Infant Ivan, Jr, Bill and Steven Evans.

Additional Information

It is suggested that memorial donations be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice or the Salvation Army. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

  1. So sorry to hear of Loretta’s passing. Ken and my husband Rodney went into the Navy together after high school. Rodney grew up with Kenny. Loretta was a very nice person, I haven’t seen her in a lot of years now but I remember her fondly.

  2. Loretta became a dear friend to me over this summer. I am so blessed to have gotten to know her. Her spunk and sense of humor made it seem like I had always known her! Prayers for all of her family and friends.
