A memorial mass will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 at noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 645 S. Douglas Ave., Three Rivers with Fr. Arul Lazar officiating.

Obituary Notice

Mario Zamora Salinas aka (Super Mario) from Mendon, passed away on June 27th, 2026 at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his loving family at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo as he entered eternal rest.

Mario was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on February 19th, 1943 to Felix and Aurelia (Zamora) Salinas.

As a young child his family moved to South Texas. Years later he met and married Inez Mireles in 1964. Children shortly followed. Mario provided a cozy family home in Donna, Tx. but ultimately settled his family in Mendon, Mi.

In his early years Mario was a musician and would travel to many areas with his band. He played bass guitar, guitar and the accordion. During this time he would DJ at a small radio station in Plainwell, Mi. to promote his band. Years passed by and he started working at Lyons Nursery for over 25 years. He then ventured with a dear friend (Alan Crocker) and helped operate Hacienda Landscaping. He enjoyed the freedom and peacefulness of working outdoors. He was a devoted father and a giving soul who was always willing to provide a helping hand.

Remaining to cherish his memories are his children. Mario (Sharon) Salinas Jr., Jose (Janice) Salinas, Robert (Kelli) Salinas, David (Chris) Salinas, Maria (Tom) Kelly, Ida (Nazario) Sanchez, Adan (Rachel) Salinas, Rudy Salinas, 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and sister Juanita Bocanegra.

He is preceded in death by his wife Inez Salinas, his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Additional Information

Donations in Mario’s memory may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or the Mendon Kiwanis. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Hohner Funeral Home.

  1. Grandpa was the best man i knew! As well as a great grandfather to Kayden as well as my sweet Camila Zamora. Thank you for the memories and the bond you shared with them. We sure will miss you but we will see you again one day!
