Service Details

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 56050 Buckhorn Rd., Three Rivers, MI, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Her ashes will be interred at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.

Obituary Notice

Mary J. Recher, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on July 7, 2026. She was born in Three Rivers, MI, on June 19, 1930, to David and Ruth (Elliott) York. She graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1948. Two years later she married David Recher on July 2, 1950. They were married for 73 years.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Three Rivers, where she served the Lord in many ministries and activities. Her family and friends will remember her for her strong, quiet, and humble faith. She was a devout follower of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and passed that faith on to her children. Undoubtedly, she was an inspiration to countless others as she lived a life rooted in grace and compassion.

Mary loved sewing, reading, and baking. Her family and friends were eager recipients of her culinary efforts! She also was an ardent fan of the Chicago Cubs and rarely missed watching a game on TV.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachel (John Evans) Recher-Evans, sons Eric (Janet) Recher and Peter Recher, all of Three Rivers. She also leaves 3 grandchildren: Mary Moore of Milan, GA, Kyrah (Bill) Burns of Leominster, MA, and Courtney Evans, Langley, British Columbia, Canada; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband David; her parents, David and Ruth York; her brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Phyllis) York and Phillip (Jeannette) York; and many good friends.
