Service Details

His family will receive friends Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Jamey Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in Parkville Cemetery.

Obituary Notice

Ralph Max Chapman, 62, of Three Rivers, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 7, 1962 in Three Rivers, the son of Max and Oneda (Hostetler) Chapman, and graduated from Three Rivers High School.

Ralph served his country in the Army National Guard.

In 1986, he married Lori Dentler.

Ralph was a dedicated employee of Docks Foundry, where he worked in maintenance.

He was a top-notch mechanic who could fix anything. He enjoyed racing cars and demolition derbies, but also loved being outdoors – whether fishing, hunting, or mushrooming.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori Chapman; son, Bradley (Megan) Chapman; daughter, Amber (Zachary Appleton) Chapman; grandchildren, Falicity Cheeks, Leland Cheeks, Luna Wise, Landin Chapman, Denver Appleton, and Ryland Appleton; brother, Darrell Chapman; sisters, Frances Butler and Dawn Mead.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nicholas Chapman; one brother; and one sister.

Additional Information

Donations in Ralph’s memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to St. Joseph County Veterans Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

  1. I worked with Ralph and the MTI maintenance team 2012-2014. Ralph was one of my favorites on the team. He took care and watched over me as the only lady on the floor most of the time. He showed me some tricks to make work easier, and he even showed me best places to take smoke breaks in the winter months to get out of the cold. He was a good soul and deserves a longer life. I hope he rests easy, and I hope to bump into a soul like his in every lifetime.

  2. Sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing condolences and prayers to the family I knew of Ralph when he served in national Guard unit he was in Motor plt.Ralph you will be missed,RIP Ralph .

  3. So sorry to hear about the passing of Ralph. He was a great guy, never heard anybody have a bad word to say about him, which says a lot about the character of the man. He had a lot of character and he was a character LO.L

Lori i’m very sorry about Ralph he was a great guy lots of great memories when he worked for Mike and with skip my favorite memory is when mike’s smaller size garage needed patching up so he skip and i were on the roof and ralph took the end of my tshirt and nailed it on a shingle so i wouldn’t fall love to you and your family!!!

  5. So sorry for your loss..I played baseball with Ralph in little league on the White Sox quite a few years ago and was a classmate in High School…he and Darryl would always have a kind word when I happened to see either around town..

  6. Lori Amber Brad and family I am so very sorry the loss of Dad. Dad was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed!! The neighborhood won’t be the same with out the sound of his truck coming up and down the road and him waving at us… so many memories with him. I love you all so very much and I am so very sorry for your loss if you need anything I’m a call away Mom .
