Obituary Notice
Richard Allen Gearhart, 85, of Three Rivers, went to be with his Lord Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 20, 1939 in Three Rivers, the son of Harold and Leona (Parker) Gearhart, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1957. Richard grew up on a farm near Pleasant Lake; if things broke the family fixed them – they didn’t buy new or pay for repairs. Dick learned to repair any kind of machinery from an early age.
Richard worked for Continental Can, Armstrong, General Motors, and eventually at Saturn in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
Dick enjoyed coaching Three Rivers Little League, missionary building projects, tinkering and fixing anything that needed it. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the source of joy in his life.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce (Jones) Gearhart, whom he married on June 4, 1961; two beloved sons, Mark (Lorie) Gearhart and Todd (Julie) Gearhart; grandchildren, Laura, Hannah, Abigail, Tyler, and John; four beloved great-grandchildren, Wesley, James, Jenna, and Penny.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Norman and Charles Gearhart.
Additional Information
Donations in Richard’s memory may be directed to Three Rivers Hospice, St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund, or Flowerfield Missionary Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

May the Lord comfort you as you grieve the loss of your father. Thinking of you, Annette
I am very sorry for your loss. We got acquainted at a monthly caregiver support group, however being lifelong TR people we weren’t complete strangers. Enjoyed bowling along side of both he and Joyce at Senior bowling. Beautiful and strong family . I’m currently out of town and sorry to miss sharing support and hugs to all🙏❤️
I remember Richard from grade school at Oak Ridge school. He was three years older than me and always fun to be around.
I was truly blessed to know Dick. He and his whole family are true examples of what a Christian should be and instill that in others. He will surely be missed.
