Friends may call from 11 to 12 on October 6 at Hohner Funeral Home 1004 Arnold St, Three Rivers MI., followed by a memorial service at 12pm with Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post # 170.

Obituary Notice

Richard E. Zander, age 90, of Westerville, OH , formerly of Lima, OH passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Three Rivers, MI.

He was born to Oscar and Stella Zander in Three Rivers, on October 10, 1927. He married Mary J. Keller on September 5, 1947, who preceded him in passing on July 2, 2005.

Mr. Zander retired in Lima from General Dynamics Plant Engineering. He previously worked for Chrysler Corporation in the Detroit area for over 27 years. Beginning at Highland Park Engineering and then at the Troy office of Chrysler Realty for the dealership and diversified construction programs. Mr. Zander was a registered architect, a designer, and artist.

He graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1946 and was co-captain of the 1945 football team. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, and graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology, with a B. S. in Architectural Engineering. He was a lifetime member of the Three Rivers B.P.O. Elks #1248 and a member of the American Legion Post 170.

Preceding him in death are his daughter, Laura Jean; brother, Robert; sisters, Thelma Johnson and Dorothy Kallewaard.

Survivors include son, Craig (Alyson) Zander; two grandchildren, Kyle Zander and Kari Brosier (Jeremiah), all of Westerville OH.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan. Envelopes available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
