A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Riverside Church, 207 E. Michigan Ave, Three Rivers, MI 49093.  

Obituary Notice

Rick L. Downer of Three Rivers, MI, passed away suddenly Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at the age of 61.

 

He was born to parents Richard and Janet Downer on March 10th, 1957 in Three Rivers, MI. He grew up as the oldest of three and attended Three Rivers High School where he played Trumpet in the marching band. In 2000, he married Tina Turner. Rick had a heart for service, which showed in the way he chose to live his life. He was a Lieutenant for the Three Rivers Fire Department for 11 years. He was a lead usher and small group leader at his church and volunteered his time in multiple other areas. He owned his own flooring business, which followed him to Colorado where Tina and him owned and ran the Cascade Mountain Lodge, a Bed and Breakfast. Rick was the type of person who was always there when you needed him.

 

Rick is survived by his wife, Tina Downer; sons, David Turner and Wesley Downer; daughters, Jen (Keith) Brown, Christina (Daniel) Millard, and Kristin Downer; brother, Tracy Downer and sister Debbie Guthrie; and 11 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Janet Downer; and grandson, Wyatt Turner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Riverside Church “in memory of Rick Downer”.

    Oh how sad to hear of Rick’s sudden passing. I am so sorry for your great loss. The love you had for each other was a beautiful thing. God Bless your precious heart Tina.

    I sure enjoyed you both while we were at Freedom Church.
    Rick was always ready and happy to help where ever there was a need. His warm and welcoming smile was received and enjoyed by us all.

  2. Going to miss you old friend; a friendship that spans over 15 years. Looking back, I remember having coffee at the store, talking about friends, family, faith and the future. You were one of those friends, that I could count on, always! I know where you are today; and I know you heard those words, we all long to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Well done, my friend. Resting in the arms of Jesus.
