Obituary Notice
Russell Wayne Miller, 79, of Three Rivers, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Beacon Kalamazoo surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 4, 1947 in Detroit, the son of William G. and Hilda Nehls, and graduated from Vicksburg High School.
Russell served his country in the United States Marines, at Camp Lejeune and in Vietnam.
On June 3, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Angie Reid. They raised three children together and enjoyed going on short trips with their children and grandchildren. She passed away on September 11, 2020, after 53 years of marriage.
Russell worked as a millwright at Simpson Paper Company for nearly 30 years, then at American Axle & Manufacturing until his retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed doing landscaping at Island Hills Golf Course.
He could be an intimidating man but was soft around the edges. He was hard-working, supporting his family like no other. He could often be found out on and around his property – mowing the lawn, cutting wood, and helping the neighbors.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shannon Miller (partner Andy Strome); grandchildren, Miranda Smith, Ryleigh Smith, Gunnar Miller, Chase Miller and Ryan Miller; great-grandchildren, Jr., Nalaya, and Declan, Malcom Miller, Emmett Miller; and several siblings.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Miller; and sons, Daniel Miller and Rusty Miller.
