Service Details

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ninth Street United Methodist Church, 700 Ninth St., Three Rivers. A memorial service will follow at noon at the church, with Pastor Ed Ross officiating.

Obituary Notice

Ruth Ellen Shaw, 79, of Three Rivers passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. Ruth was born in the same house her great-grandparents bought in 1865 on December 26, 1942 in Lagrange County, IN the daughter of Dean and Laura (Rasler) Bullock.

Ruth has been a resident of Three Rivers since 1967. She graduated with class of 1971 from Sturgis High School. Ruth was united in marriage to the late Rev. Curtis Shaw in 1986. Ruth worked at Heartland Healthcare Center and Three Rivers Area Hospital along with homecare nursing for many years. She was also a faithful member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church. She was a foster parent for many years. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and embroidering along with spending time with her children and great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. Curtis Shaw, grandson Johnnie Ray Jent, Jr., three sisters, one brother, one son-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memory, sons, Willie Jent, Jr. of Three Rivers and Johnnie Ray Jent, Sr. of Sturgis; daughter, RoseMarie Guest of Lawton; sister, Ruby (Gerald) Ferro of Lagrange, IN; sister-in-law, Carol Bullock of Churubusco, IN; ten grandchildren, Courtney (Carley) Jent, LaTesha Towers, Ashley (John) Moser, Renee Towers, Robert Baad, Nathan Jent, Willie D. Jent, Nicholas Jent, Brooke Kosloski, and Deanna Copper; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and step-daughter-in-law, Vikki Shaw.

Memorials may be directed to her family, c/o Marie Guest. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of her arrangements.

  1. I am so sad to hear of Ruth’s passing. I had the pleasure for 14 years to wait on her at the credit union. My heart goes out to Willie and the rest of the family. Ruth always had something funny to say that made me laugh. She was a strong ‘ol bird – and now she can fly high with the angels.

  2. I’m so sorry for the loss . I knew Ruth from my mom Annie ,they were good friends and would do things gether, but now they are with each other and having a blast.
