Shelley Viola Yates, 48, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at her home.
She was born April 2, 1977 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Donald Yates and Carol Keller, and attended Three Rivers Schools.
Shelley loved her cats and enjoyed listening to heavy metal music.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her father; sons, Damian and Lane Esarey; sister, Audra Sweet; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and by her brother, Ricky Paffhausen.

Donations in Shelley’s memory may be directed to St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Oh Shelley, I knew this day was coming but not this soon. I’m comforted to know you are no longer bed bound and are soaring high now. I’ll cherish my memories with time spent with you watching movies, enjoying the cats, watching let’s make a deal and price is right because you “ liked to see people happy “. I’m sorry we never got to go on that cruise, next time I go I will say a toast to you and throw some flowers in the ocean. I know I was just your nurse for awhile, but we both knew it was a friendship that went way beyond that. I’m picturing you reuniting with Ricky who I know you missed very much, Also Socks and honey. Fly high Shelley, rest in peace and know you will always be remembered.
